United by a shared commitment to supporting those in need, Garima Saikia Garg, along with Assam's artistes, actors, musicians under the banner of 'Sur Bahini' launched a citywide donation drive in Guwahati to assist flood-affected families in Upper Assam.

 Inspired by the enduring humanitarian legacy of music maestro
 Jayanta Hazarika and Zubeen Garg,
 the initiative brought the community together in a collective effort
 to provide relief and stand in solidarity with those impacted by the floods.

* On 19 July 2026, Assam witnessed one of its most devastating flood disasters in recent years.
Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat Districts (Upper Assam side) were overwhelmed as floodwaters surged through villages, forcing families to seek refuge on rooftops and trees with children and the elderly. Their courage and resilience in the face of this tragedy 
will never be forgotten.
 We stand with every affected family and 
Salute the rescuers and volunteers who risked their lives to save others.

Messrs. Mahasingh Rai Meghraj, popularly known as Bargola of Fancy Bazaar, is Guwahati's oldest surviving business house, carrying forward a remarkable legacy spanning nearly two centuries. Established in 1828 by Rai Bahadur Mahasingh Rai Meghraj Kuthari, A Rajput from Bikaner, Rajasthan, Mahasingh Rai Meghraj Kuthari first came to Assam as a trader in 1812,

Located at the heart of Fancy Bazaar, the historic Bargola building has stood witness to 
Guwahati's commercial growth and transformation for almost 200 years,
 remaining a symbol of the city's enduring trading heritage.
