A Sunday Yatra.... to Gandhi Mandap

Mahatma Gandhi is known to be the "Father of our Nation". He is the one, who has made India, an independent country from the hands of British rule. He was a great follower of Non-Violence and Satyagraha. In his memory, Gandhi Mandap was built in the heart of the city of Guwahati. It is located at the top of South Sarania hills. Built in the year 1969, it is 2 km distance from the bottom of the hill to reach the place. Though it is situated in Guwahati yet I have never been there. On a very Sunday morning, 16th May, 2010, I decided to go there. It was a pleasant trip to Gandhi Mandap, though I was alone moving there, yet have enjoyed the moment very much. The city of Guwahati with the monstrous river flowing around could be easily visible from the top of the peak. Here I am uploading few of the pictures of my recent trip to Gandhi Mandap.

N.B. The Mandap was constructed in the great memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and Martyrs Trust and it has been dedicated to the people by Shrimati Indira Gandhi who was then the Prime Minister of India for Gandhian Research.

A thin road through which the Mandap could be reached
