Saluting the Heroes ...

" The tradition of reversing and resting on arms i.e. leaning on a weapon held upside down has been a mark of respect or mourning for centuries. This is the drill position adopted by the ceremonial guard standing in solemn vigil at Military funeral. This tradition is known to have been introduced by the Greeks. Description of War Memorials of the 16th Century provides the earliest documented instances of having a statue with Reversed Arms as a mark of respect for the Martyrs."
