Srimanta Sankaradeva Kakakshetra,Guwahati


Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra is a multi-arts complex situated at
Guwahati, about 5 km from Dispur, in Kamrup District. It was named
after the great 16th century saint and reformer Srimanta Sankaradeva -
the father of Assamese literature. The Kalakshetra aims to preserve and
promote the socio cultural heritage of Assam. Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra has an open air theatre and a central museumThe open air theater, which can hold about 3000 persons at a time, is the venue for folk festivals, traditional dance and drama. Lalit-Kala
Bhavan, Silpagram,Dr.Babendra Nath Saikia Childrens park, Heritage Park
and a well established library are the other features of Kalakshetra. and on that day Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra was organising Eastern
India Folk Cultural Festival under patronisation of Sangeet Natak

Basistha Devalaya


Another sunday trip...this time our destination was Basistha Ashram
TempleBasistha Muni Temple alias Basistha Ashram is situated on Sadhya Chal
Hill about 12km from Guwahati. It is believed to be the Hermitage of
Basistha Muni (Vasistha), a famous saint and scholar and the author of
the famous Epic Ramayana. and there we took some photographs and we
went inside Lord Ganesha's temple..and saw the water streams
flowing..it was a very pleasant day..so guys please submit ur comments
